With reference to your letter No.82796/31 of

the 18th of May, forwarding a copy of a General Order

issued by the Government of Hong Kong to give effect

to the new method of conversion of sterling salaries,

we shall be glad to hear that you agree that no

alteration to the standard Class I and II forms of

agreement copies attached) is necessary on this

account. We propose, however, to send a copy of the

General Order to candidates for all appointments other

than Police (see para below)

Clause II of the Conditions of Service in the

Hong Kong Police Force, embodied in the special

agreements for that Force, will require furt her

modification to bring it into line with the General

Order. A draft form of this agreement (our only

copy) was sent to you for approval with our minute

of the 10th of April. Will you please return it to us

for alteration or, if you wish, amend it to meet

the new requir ements.
